Addiction is defined as not having control over doing, taking, or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you.

Addiction affects the brain and behaviour.

  • Opioids (heroin), cocaine, and cannabis
  • Internet, pornography, and gambling
  • Shopping and work
  • The bio-psycho-social model is the first line of treatment, which is a combination of psychology [CBT, psychotherapy], medications, and social support.
